CANTIGAS DE SANTA MARIA   of Alfonso X "El Sabio"
This collection, the Cantigas de Santa Maria, must have been composed in the second half of 13th century under the direction of Alfonso X "The Wise", who was King of Castile and León. It has become a particulary outstanding phenomenon in medieval music and is the song book with the most varied themes about the Virgin Mary in all Europe.

IL PRIMO LIBRO DE' BALLI of Giorgio Mainerio (1535 ca.-1582).
This is one of the first collections of dances, a catalogue of rythms and melodies covering the first half of the 16th century. The music is performed by a consort of wind instruments exploring a large number of colours.
