CANTIGAS DE SANTA
MARIA of Alfonso X "El Sabio"
This collection, the Cantigas de Santa Maria, must have been composed in the second half
of 13th century under the direction of Alfonso X "The Wise", who was King of
Castile and León. It has become a particulary outstanding phenomenon in medieval music
and is the song book with the most varied themes about the Virgin Mary in all Europe.

BALLI of Giorgio Mainerio (1535 ca.-1582).
This is one of the first collections of dances, a catalogue of rythms and melodies
covering the first half of the 16th century. The music is performed by a consort of wind
instruments exploring a large number of colours.
