The Councillorship for Youth Policy, Youth Project of the City Council of Padua, is the main promoter of both the MEMORY Project and the "MEMORIALI DEL XX SECOLO" web-site.
Born during the course of the 1980's, the Youth Project of Padua has served, right from the very beginning, as a research centre and as a laboratory for ideas, services and initiatives directed towards the youthful citizens. Among the principal activities run by the Youth Project Office are to be found: an information desk on themes of youth interest, a section dedicated to youth mobility and cultural exchange at European level, a series of support services aimed at promoting young artists, activities of territorial animation, study surveys in the youth field, and collaboration with a number of different institutions and associations.
Similarly, in these last few years the Youth Project has, among its various spheres of interest, embarked upon the production of videos that bear information about its own activities, and about some aspects drawn directly from the reality of the youth. In the year 2000, for example, the Project produced a video documentary conceived by "Kineo" Association and entitled "Nel Filo della Memoria". The video is based upon the remembrances of Second World War as narrated by some old-aged citizens of Padua.
Following this, "Kineo" then went on to propose the MEMORY Project, which will be realised through the collection of video-interviews from all over Europe, and by the creation of a huge history theme web-site that is meant to be accessible to all European youth. The adherence of the Councillorship for Youth Policy, Youth Project of the City Council of Padua, was quite an enthusiastic one. This institution, in fact, holds a more than firm conviction about the current importance of safeguarding historical memory and of promoting dialogue between the generations. It has therefore shown a very deep appreciation for the innovative nature of this project.
