A
14-minute film, shown on a maxi-screen, with texts available in several
languages, welcomes visitors entering the Multimedia Room. Enrico Scrovegni
himself tells you the story of the Chapel and why he wished to have it
built, and alludes to some aspects of his own human story. The result
is a dramatic narrative, full of feeling, mingling with his enthusiastic
presentation of the frescoes. Present-day and past images of the Chapel
and the Arena alternate with those of the frescoes: the history and actuality
of a masterpiece which continues to impress people deeply - today, as
it did seven hundred years ago.
